September 2012 Software Development Update

Poet

We’re excited to have rolled out in September the latest release of Poet, including:

• support for DIAGRAM Content Model metadata: describers can add summary descriptions, brief descriptions, annotation and more, in addition to the standard long description
• improved navigation: includes a way for users to identify and go to specific images
• more detailed user documentation

The volunteers at Bookshare, who have been producing thousands of descriptions using Poet, are now actively using the latest release and providing feedback so we can keep improving the tool and making their work more efficient. Next up: embedded description guidance so that users can more effectively get editorial help.
